I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Hello! My name is Chris, and I would like to thank you for considering me as you look for a tutor.

A bit about myself: I'm originally from Maine, where I attended both public and private schools. After graduating from high school in 2009, I ventured outside New England to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. While there, I tutored math and physics in elementary, middle, and high schools. In my senior year, I was a computer science teaching assistant. After graduating in 2013 with a BA in mathematics and economics and a GPA of 3.85, I worked in software engineering for a health informatics corporation called Epic Systems in Madison, Wisconsin. My job at Epic was rewarding in many ways, but it was not a great fit for me. I realized that I wanted to pursue my academic interests further before settling into a career. Therefore, I left Epic and was admitted to a graduate program in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which I began in 2015. I graduated from Georgia Tech with my MS in December, 2016. Currently, I am a software engineer at Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri. I am still tutoring as well.

I find mathematics of all levels interesting, from arithmetic to algebra to calculus and beyond. I also enjoy working with kids and adults equally. Therefore, whether you are the parent of a 3rd-grader struggling with long division, or a college senior who needs a math refresher before taking the GRE, I can help you. I can also offer tutoring in non-math sections of the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. Most recently, I took the GRE and achieved score percentiles of 98, 96, and 93 in the test's respective quantitative, verbal, and writing sections. Additionally, I was taught classical piano beginning at age eight, and was Rhodes College's Jazz Ensemble pianist. I would jump at the chance to give piano lessons or help anyone with reading music or understanding music theory. In any case, I pride myself on being someone who is easy for anyone with any learning style to learn from.
