I have been teaching History, and occasionally Geography, for over 20 years. I teach all the World Civ and US History classes, as well as several other Histories (European, Asian). My main focus is to help students see connections and forces behind historical events -- in short the "Big Picture" -- while also understanding the importance of specific events and people. I frequently conduct one on one sessions with students, which I enjoy greatly, to help them see these points and connections, and to adopt strategies for reading and understanding text books, and strategies to incorporate the 'dreaded dates' into the process.
