I graduated from Grinnell College with Honors in Sociology. In college I was very active in the Spoken Word community, and since graduating I've continued to pursue my passion for performing and public speaking! In college I tutored English and Grammar and Literary Analysis in a prison for incarcerated men. I also co-taught a six week Speech and Debate class, which was one of my most memorable and fond experiences. My favorite subjects to teach are English and Literature. I love seeing students discover their own interpretations of the material. I also love to teach poetry because I know how difficult poetry can initially feel, but also how rewarding it is when one grows more comfortable with it. I love connecting with students one on one, and I'm very invested their success. My teaching approach is personable and comfortable because I believe that education should and can be enjoyable! When I'm not working I enjoy standup comedy, hiking, and community organizing.
