I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I grew up in very remote and high mountains of the northern part of Algeria, known under the name of Djurjura. Being a third of the nine siblings, my tutoring experience can be traced very far back when I helped almost every one of my siblings to not only come up to speed but excel at school.
In my opinion, tutoring is far beyond a job, a function or a service traded with an amount of dollars. It is well beyond teaching a formula or a way to remember it. It is offering conditions, and creating an atmosphere where a combination of multiple factors come together to not only trigger but ignite that desire to learn how to think scientifically and how to reason when facing a problem to solve.

While attending college, in Algeria, I helped dozens of high school students to pass their Baccalaureate exam, a national university entry exam.

After I graduated with my BS in Electrical Engineering, I moved to Paris, France where I was attending college pursuing my MSEE degree. During this time, I helped relatives who claimed that their neurons were not wired for math to go from C's to A's in math and physics.

As an exchange student between Poitiers university in France and OSU university in Corvallis Oregon, I served as a teaching assistance in Signals and Systems. This class was math intensive. Outside my work hours, I offered office hours to help students who were having challenges understanding the material.

While working for Cypress Semiconductor in Lynnwood, Washington, I taught at ITT-Tech Institute different topics including Electronics, Physics and Digital Circuit Design. During this time, I proctored the classes, assigned homework, quizzes and exams and neatly typed solutions into handouts for the students to use in preparing for future exams or job interviews. I personally called the students who missed a class to arrange for a way to bring them up to speed so they don't fall behind.

I enjoy teaching as much I enjoy playing soccer or painting a beautiful landscape. I enjoy even more seeing a student discover those capabilities that we all have but more hidden in some of us than in others. Every student is potentially a genius waiting to happen when those conditions mentioned above are gathered. When they are, the gratification of being part of that process is infinite and that's what makes all the difference.
