Certified Tutor
I graduated from Loyola College in Maryland and received my Bachelor of Arts degree as a double major in History and Philosophy with a minor in Asian Studies. I was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 2008 and graduated with departmental awards in each of my majors.
After graduating, I worked as a "brain trainer" at a learning center, eventually expanding my role to include cognitive testing, academic and organizational coaching, and SAT/college preparation. This insight into the thought processes of the students coming to our center for services helped me to hone my approach as a tutor, as I believe that I am able to find the best method to convey the information to my students. I was the "jack of all trades" tutor during this time, but my strengths are Study and Organizational Skills, History, Social Studies, Literature and Writing, and General Humanities. I have had success in helping my students develop key strategies and techniques to prepare for Critical Reading and Writing exams, including AP Literature, History, and college entrance essays. I firmly believe in helping students to make a connection to what they are studying and I emphasize a "bigger picture" approach, as I hope to share my enthusiasm for education and learning.
I play piano, drums, vibraphones, bass, and guitar and I actively work as an audio engineer and composer. In my spare time, I work on projects that aim to fuse my love of teaching with my lifelong passion for music.
