I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Dan

Certified Tutor

I was a law professor, so I have a lot of teaching experience. I was also a courtroom lawyer for many years, specializing in capital punishment and criminal law, as well as civil rights litigation so I know a lot about the actual practice of law. Not surprisingly, I tutor the LSAT. I am now a psychotherapist and performance-optimization coach; I help people overcome blockages to achieve their optimum performance capacity. I graduated from Harvard Law School and received a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. I am also a published author, having written one book about one of my notable death-penalty cases, countless scholarly articles dealing with legal issues, several encyclopedia entries, and several essays for a general audience. I love to write and teach. I am passionate about helping people find their inner strengths and talents. I have traveled the world, along with hiking, skiing, biking, yoga and consider myself highly multicultural. As far as my approach to teaching and tutoring, I strongly believe in blending patience with encouragement. I try to instill in students a certain kind of fearlessness: not being afraid of getting stuck, or worse, getting panicked when finding yourself stuck. Being stuck, and then getting unstuck, is how you get to the next level in your performance. Mostly, I strive to instill confidence.
