Educating students is what I do best. I earned my BA in English from Illinois Wesleyan University, and I have been the recipient of The Academy of American Poets' Prize, multiple Dean's List Awards, and the Campus Life/Intellectual Leadership Award. I was the president of my English honor society (Sigma Tau Delta), as well as the president of the poetry group on campus (Tributaries).

The most important thing to know about me is that my true passion is student success. As a previous Teach for America corp member in the city of Denver, I taught for three years in Denver's lowest and highest performing middle and high schools. During my time teaching, I was part of a staff that took a student body that had an average of a 6th grade reading and writing level in our 9th grade class and led them to the highest overall growth recorded in the district and the second highest in the state of Colorado. According to nationally normed standardized testing, the average student in my reading/writing classroom that completes the work with me grows approximately two years in their abilities in one academic year.

As a bilingual educator (I speak Spanish and English), I am able to assist a diverse group of students with a variety of literacy concerns from phonics and language acquisition all the way to essay composition and literature analysis.

I am the type of teacher that listens carefully to students, figures out their learning styles and the gaps in their knowledge, and then tirelessly and relentlessly assists students in overcoming those gaps as fast as possible.

When I am not helping students achieve their dreams, I beatbox, do jiu jitsu, and adventure around the city with my friends, family, and loved ones.
