Do you want someone who has worked with children and families from a variety of linguistic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds? Do you want someone who doesn't make excuses, but will commit 150% to helping kids be proficient in all academic areas?

I am a teacher with 8 years of successful experience teaching in urban public schools. I've been successful teaching all grades K-8 over the years and have worked in multi-age, bilingual and inclusion classrooms. In recent years, I've been hired specifically to teach and improve the literacy of ESL students in 5th and 6th grades and intervene in Math and literacy for at-risk youth from grades 5th-8th. I am enthusiastic and creative, which has allowed me over the years to create lessons and classroom environments that inspire all students to achieve their goals and believe in the importance of succeeding in education and life. I have a track record of 80% and above of all my students testing proficient in Reading and Math by the end of the year (I also have data to prove it!).

I am confident in teaching all different kinds of kids and using a variety of instructional methods. I am not afraid to try new things. I understand the importance of multiple intelligences and different learning styles and apply differentiated instruction techniques in my daily planning and teaching.

I am familiar with many Reading and Math curriculums, and teach them well. I have used Connected Math and Everyday Math and I understand the importance of children exploring and being able to explain verbally and in writing, the processes they're using to solve.

I know I can be an effective tutor for your student and I am confident I can produce results and bring some new and unique ideas to you! I am dedicated to being a part of the home and school connection of my students and their families. I can be helpful in parents speaking to teachers and advocating for their student's needs successfully.
