During my session with the student, we reviewed the long a, schwa, and "er" sounds, conjunctions, apostrophes, and two excerpts from a play adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. As a strategy, I told her to go with her gut when spelling, since she often spells the word correctly the first time. For extra practice, she is to work on the schwa sound chapter in her spelling workbook and the monologue from Alice in Wonderland. She informed me that she got 100 on her last spelling test in school! She can do very well on her spelling tests when she applies herself!

This was my first tutoring session with this student, and she was very excited to learn. I thought it was very important to be approachable since she is younger than her sister. She paused a few times to collect her thoughts when doing a read-aloud from her favorite book. The math was easy for her, so I have to make more challenging exercises. Her writing and penmanship are good for her age. I'm also going to work on making sure she pays attention. She is a very enthusiastic learner.

Tutoring review by Jessica in Highland, IN
The student I reviewed vocabulary on definite and indefinite articles, masculine and feminine articles for irregular noun endings such as 'el dentista,' and past tense verb conjugation. We went into a brief overview of preterite vs. imperfect, reviewed verb conjugation for verbs in the preterite tense, and highlighted imperfect verb conjugation. We discussed new concepts while speaking in Spanish and he was able to express himself entirely en Espanol for an impressive duration throughout conversation. Although it took him a little deliberation, he produced excellent Spanish sentences with correct sentence structure and verb conjugation. I am so excited for him and proud to see him move beyond any challenges and intimidation he may have experienced in the past regarding language production because he is speaking at more of a beginner/intermediate level Spanish student rather than a beginner speaker. We are continuing to cover basic concepts and to build on the foundation he has established from past exposure and experience with the language and I am very pleased with his progress. He is a quick learner and is very disciplined. He reviews the chapters ahead before our lessons and then discusses with me any questions/concerns/confusion he might have while reading.
