We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

We went over the student's independent project and how to analyze the different tests. The tests included summary statistics, bar graphs, histograms, chi-squares, scatterplots, and regressions/correlations. She did very well with the different tests, so I just helped her organize her data and answer the professor's questions.

Today, we studied for the student's midterm next Tuesday. We worked a lot on z scores and finding the area under a normal curve using the 68/95/99.7 rule. She feels confident that she will do well on her test. I look forward to hearing about it!

Today, we worked through problem sets covering normal distributions, sampling distributions, and confidence intervals. We talked about the different types of data (qualitative and quantitative along with discrete and continuous), types of sampling procedures (simple, stratified, cluster, and systematic), the empirical rule, calculating standard error, and how to calculate and interpret confidence intervals. This material the student understood much better. I think since this course is online, the student struggles a bit with connecting the terms and how to use them to answer the homework problems. But my help verbally explaining the topics and explaining them in differing ways is really helping his comprehension.

We reviewed fundamental concepts in probability, the use of Venn diagrams, the addition rule, and the multiplication rule. The student worked through some practice problems, and she was able to apply what we discussed. Moreover, we reviewed tree diagrams and discussed conditional probabilities. I asked her to practice on her own using the end of chapter review exercises.
