We discussed the relationship between atoms and moles, moles and liters, and grams and moles in preparation for solving stoichiometry problems.

We covered more solubility equilibrium today. The student has a test tomorrow, so she really wanted to get this down. She definitely has improved since our last session. She is more confident in herself and it shows because she knew exactly how to do every problem. There wasn't more that I taught her. We just went over a lot of problems together to make sure she was doing them right. I believe she will do very well on her test because she is very bright and she understands the material.

We discussed aspects of concepts. The student did not have much material for concepts. The foundation of the questions was centered more around Calculus versus Pre-Calculus. In addition, I conducted a short introduction to ideal gas laws and how to understand the variables. I also introduced some aspects of application when to use certain formulas. I provided a formal definition of the Kinetic Molecular Theory. We discussed how the teacher tests and the student's strengths and weaknesses.

We covered the chapter over vertebrates, reviewed a lab that is due tomorrow, and a worksheet over the chapter due later in the week. I will send practice questions and videos to help the student!

Today we worked on Acid Base Chemistry. We covered Bronsted Acid and Bases. We covered Acid Base Equilibrium. We covered how to calculate H and OH concentrations and how it relates to pKa, pKb, and pH. It helps us understand H and OH concentrations, what this means for acidity and basicity, and how these concepts relate to the different way we classify acids and bases.

The student had a lot of math homework this week. We worked on expanding improper fractions by taking out ones from the wobbly fraction and turning it into an addition problem. We then plotted the mixed fraction on a number line. This was a very useful task for him, as it really seemed to click for him that a fraction is actually just a part of a whole number. For example, when given the fraction 5 1/4, he learned that the number line needs to be 6 units long because it's five and a little bit more. He also completed a bit of science homework where he looked through his textbook chapter to find answers to worksheet questions.
