In this session we covered the outline that I made for Chapter 3 of the physiology text, answered the student's questions on same, and I submitted many questions for her to review online. For our next session we will review the outline I will prepare on the rest of Chapter 3 and the assigned portion of Chapter 4 and go over the answers for the questions for Unit 2 from her teacher. Finally, we will review and answer any questions she may have on the material for her test Wednesday.

Today we covered the bones, muscles and joints. We covered bone tissue and the skeletal system, such as the functions of the skeletal system, bone classification, bone structure, bone formation and development and fractures. We also covered classification of joints, fibrous joints, cartilaginous joints and synovial joints. Then we covered the interaction of skeletal muscles and their lever systems, naming skeletal muscles, agonists, antagonists, synergists and fixators. We also went over a practice test on integument, bones, joints, and muscles and the student did very well on it. He needs more practice with endochondral and intramembranous ossification. I will be emailing practice questions to him and this session was successful.

I met with the student and discussed her standing in the class. She got a 56 on her first exam. Her next exam is Friday over chapters 6, 9, and 12 - electrotonic potential - muscle - cardiovascular. We started going over the information provided by her professor for chapter 6 and I asked her to finish watching those lectures and make notes. She is also going to watch 2 videos related to sodium potassium atpases and electrotonic potential that are available online. When I got home I emailed her father 3 sets of study questions one for each chapter and hopefully he forwarded that to her so that she can do some practice questions before we meet today. We are meeting at 4:30 today to discuss how she feels about the study plan we are trying out for chapter 6 and to make a study plan for the rest of the week.

We also worked on problems related to Snell's law and finding the voltage or current for resistors in series and parallel. The student is showing more confidence about the material and has shown improvement on exams.
