We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Chrysa in Westminster
Today we finished Option B: human biochemistry and started Option D: Medicines and Drugs. In option B, we talked about nutrients and hormones. In Option D, we talked about drug research and development, analgesics and antacids. The student is very motivated to do well and has been studying for his exam! I am expecting him to complete some more practice tests by the next time we meet and to have questions prepared for topics he doesn't feel sure on. Overall, I have seen a great improvement from when we started lessons!

We went over acceleration and force through a physics worksheet. We went through the entire algebra worksheet and I went over the formulas needed. He is a smart student. I left him with the formulas that we went over as well as some advice to help with future assignments.

Concepts 1. Note taking strategy. Compared the student's translated notes to the notes I transcribed from her reading to determine what she has done and what she needs to do. 2. Thoroughly reviewed Lymphatic System notes from my template. Lymphatic system = extensive drainage network that keeps bodily fluid levels in balance and defends the body against infections 3. Reviewed flash cards of immune system. The student is excited about the content and learning. I told her to go through immune system and lymphatic system flash cards 3x each, and play scatter game noting how many terms she gets wrong or right. She is doing great at recall!

The concepts we covered were the nervous system, sensory organs, the musculoskeletal system, and part of the digestive system. The student actively answered questions and was honest about material he didn't understand. His extra practice includes going over his notes and diagrams in preparation for his test on Friday. He had difficulty with the components of the nervous system, however we will be going over them again and again for his exam.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Albert in Westminster
In our afternoon session today, we finished covering chapter 18-19 in more detail covered the multiple choice in the book from chapter 9 and 11. Specific concepts we covered were current and resistance, current relationship with charge, electric power, and basic circuit elements. In the multiple choice segment the student had little trouble. It was more definition based rather than conceptual, which are easily remedied, such as knowing the difference between a transverse wave and a longitudinal wave. My homework for her is to finish her cheat sheet tomorrow, so when we cover the multiple choice she will not need the book to aid her.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Manuel Gerardo in Westminster
For this session, we went over two new reactions (Wittig reaction, and the Grignard reaction), along with discussing the mechanism for acid-catalyzed acetal formation. These concepts were relatively simple for the student. She had very little difficulty understanding the new material and implementing them in new practice problems. I suspect that her upcoming lectures this week will be very easy because of it. I am very impressed with the progress she has made.
