We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

HTML Tutoring FAQ

HTML is an acronym for Hypertext Markup Language. HTML is a markup language that Internet browsers use to decipher and transform images, text, and other web components into audible or visual web pages. Back in 1980, physicist Tim Berners-Lee used to work as a contractor for CERN, aka, The European Organization for Nuclear Research. He invented ENQUIRE, a software system for researchers at CERN to use and share documents. Nine years later, Berners-Lee wrote a memo that introduced an Internet-based hypertext system which eventually developed into HTML codes.

The silent partner in almost all web development is the presentational tier of HTML. This ubiquitous markup language lies behind almost all web presentations and has done so from the earliest days of the Internet's existence. Don't be fooled into thinking that it is exceedingly difficult to learn to design websites using HTML. Instead, find a private tutor to help you learn this skill today, and add an important tool to your digital belt.

Today we did another half practice test in English, Math, and Reading.  We ran out of time for Science and will have to do that next time.  The student's English score came up 7 points from a 21 to a 28 on this practice test. Her math score remained a 26.  Her reading score came up 2 points to a 26.  Overall these three sections would give her a score of 27. As always these scores have been computed using only a portion of each sub test, so while they are a good estimate, they may not match her final score.

The student finally completed the wrap up of her final draft for her compare/contrast essay. I know she felt really great about the final product and I can slowly but surely see a boost in her academic confidence. Now Spring break begins for her!

The student has a test on Monday 12/15. We reviewed the material to be presented for the test, and looked over her homework assignments from the chapter as well to reinforce understanding of all topics covered. She is making progress, and is learning how to identify the method used for solving a problem she is presented with more easily.

SAT math section; covered geometry, algebra, word problems, and set theory. Also covered sentence completion and sentence correction strategies. The student should review the properties of special triangles and a little of set theory, in addition to the vocab words she has from the lesson.

The student and I began work on an essay that he has been assigned over Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Together, we developed a thesis which works to draw a correlation between Huck Finn and Buck Grangerford in order to demonstrate how Buck's death represents a shattering of Huck's romantic notions about combat and adventure. We then found three main supporting points in the text and put the appropriate spin on them. He worked quite diligently and the session was very fruitful.
