Environmental Science Tutoring FAQ
With global warming and ecological changes affecting today's world in a number of ways, the field of environmental science is rapidly growing. From environmentally friendly architecture to environmental law and legislation, the field has quickly become integrated in numerous other disciplines. For students with an interest in green technology and conservation, a background in environmental science can be essential. Even for those out of school, familiarity with environmental science concepts can allow you to stay up to date with the latest technology and understand how legislation changes the way in which we interact with our surroundings.
The integration of ecology, chemistry, and social sciences that is present in environmental sciences can make the topic seem dense and convoluted. To fully understand the impact an action might have on the environment, one first needs to understand the environmental systems as they function naturally, and then analyze how human impact disturbs these natural cycles. This demands not only a great amount of knowledge, but the ability to see and predict how different concepts influence one another. It can seem like a lot to ask a person to learn, particularly when the skill sets required are so vast; however, that's what is necessary for environmental science students.
Environmental science tutoring can help you prepare for an AP exam, study for an upcoming test, or even add an in-demand new skill set to your resume. Private environmental science tutoring allows you to learn in a one-on-one setting, focusing exclusively on the topics that most concern you. Varsity Tutors can help you select an instructor based on your unique learning profile. Your tutor can then tailor a plan that fits your individual study strategies, strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Whether you plan to simply add some extra credits to your course load with AP Environmental Science or to pursue a career in the field, tutors can cater to your personal aspirations and help equip you with the tools, knowledge, and strategies for success. With the field rapidly developing and expanding, now is the time to begin working to master the world of environmental science.
Varsity Tutors can connect you with a knowledgeable tutor who has taken the environmental science courses that you are working on. They have aced their exams and are now using their skills to pass on the understanding to you. If you are struggling in multiple areas, or only one, your personal tutor can help you form an unbeatable study plan that can help you prepare for your exam requirements. If you have a specific goal, such as getting into a particular class or earning a particular score on your exam, they can help you set a game plan to meet it. In addition, the tutor works to ensure that you stay on the track for success while providing reports of your progression along the way.
You can have your sessions arranged in whatever way works best for you. If you are working or raising a family, the tutor can meet up on days off or during nap time. The student did not have any homework for algebra 2, but did have homework in environmental science. We completed the questions his teacher had assigned. He is learning about biomass, food chains, organism and number pyramids.
I met with the student to cover topics from the previous week. She seems to have a great grasp of the material. We talked about how we're going to approach the semester and what assistance she will need to study for quizzes, prepare presentations, and write papers.
Review chapter of environmental science study guide, including but not limited to defining terms such as desalination, decertification, integrated pest management, the six worldwide crops that provide 80 percent of the world's caloric intake, rangeland, etc.
During this session, I met and got to know the student and we were able to make some progress on his science lessons. We worked on a project that involved birds' feet functions and built a demonstration to test a hypothesis he came up with. A project report was written up and sent to his science teacher.
The student decided that he would rather spend our time studying for environmental science. It went well. The review packet was comprehensive and there was plenty of material to cover. His understanding was good; I think he benefited from the rigorous quizzing.
