We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

With Student 1, I went over more genetics, epigenetics, missense and nonsense mutations, frameshift mutations, sex determination, the difference in germ line and somatic mutations, and genetic imprinting. With Student 2, I went over calculating atomic mass, reviewed the different atomic theories, and went over her review sheet for an upcoming quiz.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Jennifer in Cambridge
Today the student and I discussed her lab on cell size and surface to volume ratio. With little guidance she was able to answer the lab questions well. We then reviewed her quiz from class covering cell structures. She had specific questions, mostly about the ER and the Golgi apparatus. She seems to be understanding the material.

We reviewed for her final exam, which is tomorrow, December 18th. We reviewed basic chemistry concepts, including the difference between atoms and ions, how to determine the number of protons and electrons in an atom, and what isotopes are. We also reviewed the circulatory system and the digestive system, as well as the scientific method. She said she felt confident about the material we covered.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Trisha in Cambridge
This was our last session before the student's biology final, which is the next day. Over the last two weeks, we had broken down the material into the give units and discussed which ones were giving her the most trouble. As a final refresher before her exam, I went over some trouble areas: enzymes, bonding, DNA replication. Some of these concepts were very vague in her mind, as she had no strong foundation. I also went unit by unit and wrote down what areas I think she should focus in the most, including specific worksheets to look at and types of problems to do. If the student goes into the test confident and well prepared, I believe she has a strong chance of doing well!

Anatomy Tutoring review by Laura in Cambridge
We covered all of Module 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4--which is before I came on board as a tutor. We also discussed scheduling and the proctoring of her midterm, and reviewed questions she needs answers to in regards to her accommodations. We are potentially meeting again tonight, as well as Friday, and possibly Thursday.
