I graduated from Texas Christian University with a masters in Computer Education and a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education. Beginning with my first special education Resource job I began to passionately look for more effective ways to teach reading. My special education kids began to read so well they returned to the general classroom and my principal recruited me to be the Title 1 Reading specialist. I took the lowest readers in all four classrooms as well as the ELL and ESL kids and anyone with a code or a handicapped. I modified the program I had been using and we made incredible progress. Two years gain in reading and our standardized tests scores were in the top 6 % in Texas earning us multiple Lone Star Achievement Awards. I was awarded six Teacher of the Year Awards. The unprecedented progress continued and we ended up impacting many lives. Outside of school I love to read, keep up with current events, walk with my daughter, and help take care of my granddaughter who is 7 months old. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and together to see incredible reading growth. Some of my students made 3 years reading growth in a year.
