Marc: Lindenhurst tutor
Certified Tutor
I earned my Master's in Teaching from Montclair State University and later became a certified Dyslexia Specialist through Fairleigh Dickinson University. I also hold a K12 Supervisor in Education certification from Seton Hall University.
I've been an elementary school teacher for 20 years and was honored as the 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year in my school. In addition to classroom teaching, I've tutored students one-on-one in reading, writing, and math, and I specialize in helping students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia.
I tutor elementary reading, writing, and math. I particularly enjoy helping students strengthen their reading fluency and comprehension, and math skills.
Reading is my favorite subject to tutor because it opens the door to every other area of learning. I love seeing students grow from struggling with a text to confidently understanding and enjoying it.
I believe in meeting students where they are, building their confidence, and making learning engaging and approachable. My style is patient, encouraging, and adaptableI try to figure out how each student learns best and tailor my approach to them.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading nonfiction, spending time with family and friends, and watching sports. I also love cooking and trying new recipes.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students on both an academic and personal level. I strive to find a personal connection with each student. When students trust their tutor, learning becomes easier and more meaningful.
