Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Washington, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English (Creative Writing focus) and Japanese (linguistics) as well as a Certificate in Editing.

Since graduation, I have built a career in teaching that has spanned two countries, half a dozen subjects, and every age group. I had the privilege of teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to elementary and middle school students in northern Japan; ESL and writing skills to college international students and adult professionals in the US; and test prep, reading comprehension, writing skills, and more to middle and high school students in the US.

With such a broad spectrum of offerings and experience, you'd think I'd have developed a favorite by now, but I am truly passionate and excited about each and every program I run, no matter what the subject matter is! I am a firm believer that learning is a lifelong pursuit and that curiosity is essential to happiness. I love learning as much as I love teaching, and to me, the most fulfilling part about teaching is instilling (or strengthening) a love of learning in my students. I am a strong proponent for learning being both fun and practical, so my approach to any tutoring, no matter the age group or subject matter, is to tailor my programs to exactly what will help my students advance as efficiently as possible while also being interesting and fun. No matter what my students' goals are, I take my job as both guide and coach very seriously.
