Hi,
Nice to meet you! My name is Yusuf! I'm a junior at Purdue University pursuing a double major in Statistics and Brain and Behavioral Sciences, with minors in Computer Science and Finance. I'm originally from Phoenix, AZ, but have been living in Indiana for some time for school.
This isn't my first time tutoring. I've tutored children from K-12 at Kumon, where I worked for over 2 years. The main subjects I taught were math, from basic elementary addition and subtraction to Calculus 1 and 2 topics, and English, from teaching children to read more effectively to helping students understand themes of different classical works.
Aside from that, I've worked as an ABA therapist on and off for the last 2 years. As someone who has ADHD himself and a younger brother who is on the autism spectrum, I have a good footing and understanding when it comes to working with children who are neurodivergent. Oftentimes, it's easy to disregard children with neurodivergent tendencies as needing special assistance in the schooling system, but I've come to understand that, just as every child, neurodivergent children can learn just as efficiently as other children, just with specialized and focused assistance.
Learning is not a chore, and I find great joy in it. I was admitted in a chartered school system all my life, and despite all the APs or honors classes I completed through middle school and high school or the college classes I take now, I find that personally, the real joy of learning is outside of the classroom, where grades don't dictate your success.
I hope to share the joy of learning with you all.
See you soon,
Ahmed Yusuf

Undergraduate Degree: Purdue University-Main Campus - Bachelor of Science, Statistics
For my interests academically/ career-wise, I am very intrigued by cognitive science and neuroscience, and read about these subjects frequently. I'm also interested in deepening my understanding of applied math/physics, as all of science/engineering/technology is built upon these two subjects. When I'm not working or in school, most of my time is spent on sports/weightlifting, reading, or TV shows/video games/movies. I'll share some of my favorites below, and let me know what yours are as well. We might have a lot in common! Sports: I do MMA and plan to eventually compete in jiu-jitsu in the future. I also play soccer and basketball with friends, and follow them frequently. My favorite teams for soccer are Liverpool and Barcelona. Reading: My room is stacked with books that I have read or plan to read. My favorite book is The Little Prince, and the one I'm looking forward to reading soon is Jane Eyre. Shows/Video Games: I watch a range of shows and movies, either animated or live-action shows. I also play or have played a range of video games since I was a kid, either multiplayer or single-player. Favorite animated movie: Probably Tangled. A really good one I saw recently was Transformers One. Live-Action: I'll mention some movies that would be appropriate for all audiences- The Prestige, Life of Pi, Million Dollar Baby Favorite video games: Uncharted or The Last of Us
