Kaya: Sugar Land tutor

Certified Tutor

I am currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, where I've developed a strong foundation in advanced mathematics, physics, and chemistry. My passion for tutoring stems from wanting to help others gain confidence in subjects that may seem intimidating at first. I have strong tutoring skills in math, chemistry, and physics. At Washington University, I serve as a Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) leader for physics. PLTL is essentially small-group tutoring, and my role as a leader is to guide students as they work together to solve problems.

Additionally, I was a chemistry peer tutor in high school where I worked with students one one-on-one. I am especially passionate about tutoring in chemistry, physics, and math because I find it fascinating how these subjects explain how the world works. Additionally, these subjects can feel extremely intimidating at first, but with the right approach, they are completely manageable and even fun! I enjoy breaking down challenging problems into manageable steps and encouraging curiosity throughout the learning process. I approach each session with patience, adaptability, and a student-centered mindset. I believe that every learner has a unique style, and my goal is to meet students where they are, build trust, and foster independent problem-solving skills. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, dancing, and staying active through running.
