Certified Tutor
I am currently a graduate student of neuroscience in the UK's leading neuroscience program at the University of St Andrews. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience from Sewanee: The University of the South, with degree focuses in cellular, behavioural, and cognitive neuroscience. Over the past four years, I've been engaged in research, both independently and as part of teams at world-leading institutions. I managed a five-person laboratory of my own and have contributed to neuroscience projects at both Sewanee and the Yale Child Study Centre. My primary research interests range from brain cancer to neuropsychiatric disorders, and, in the coming year, neurodegenerative disease.
As a tutor in neuroscience and biology, my teaching philosophy is based upon helping students make meaningful interdisciplinary connections, bridging neuroscience with their passions and other fields of study. I believe that content mastery begins when a student can confidently teach the material back to me.
Outside of academia, I spend my time hiking, writing fantasy novels, exploring high-fidelity audio, and directing my research company in its pursuit to research and treat neurodegenerative disease and cancer.
