What if learning could feel like progress every single time?
That's the experience I aim to provide.
With over 35 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Education specializing in Language Arts, I've had the honor of helping learners from all walks of lifefrom middle school students to adults preparing for their GEDunderstand and use skills they once found overwhelming.
I've taught in places as diverse as Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Afghanistan. I'm also a subject matter expert in the Defense Language Institute's American Language Course, and I previously owned and directed two Sylvan Learning Centers in the San Francisco Bay Area. There, I led programs that filled learning gaps and boosted student confidence with custom-tailored plans for every learner.
Today, I offer tutoring in English language grammar, writing, vocabulary, and reading comprehension for college students and adult learners, as well as middle school math tutoring. Whether online or in-person at my home, I work with individuals or small groups to create engaging, focused, and meaningful learning sessions.
Here's what I believe:
Practice makes progress.
Patience fuels confidence.
Discussion deepens understanding.
Success builds self-esteem.
I'm structured and interactive in my teaching approach. I incorporate videos, PowerPoints, and creative resources when needed to support understanding. I find real joy in helping people do things they couldn't do before. Like the adult students who earned their GEDs, landed jobs, and walked away with a renewed sense of pride and purpose those are the moments I live for.
Could you or someone you know benefit from clear, supportive, and skill-building tutoring?
Let's talk. I'm here to help learning become possible and even enjoyable.
