Helping others has always been a part of who I am. That naturally led me to get my degree in education. I lived in Texas and went to Midwestern
State University, where I fell in love with literature. I got a degree in regular education grades 1-8 and special education EC-12. I have taught 13+ years, mostly in middle and high school. With every year that I've taught, I've tutored.
Although I've taught every subject in all curricular areas, my expertise is in ELA. I love middle/high school writing. I excel at research skills, am creative and able to apply that creativity to all subject areas. My love for students of every age regular education and special education brings joy to every minute that I spend teaching. I'm outgoing, positive and feel that it's very important to allow my tutoring sessions to be student driven. The time is yours. I am there to ensure that you achieve your goals, whether they are long or short-term. I will do whatever it takes to make sure that you (we, as a team) are successful. Nothing less is acceptable. My success as a teacher and what set me apart has been my patience and ability to teach a subject or concept in many different ways so that I am able to meet the student's learning style. I can easily spot areas of weakness and focus on that if necessary to obtain the end goal. Everyone has a different style of learning.

I love spending time with my dog. He keeps me in shape by escaping. Nearly every day, he enjoys running from me, what an escape artist. Sometimes, I wonder who is the dumb one as I chase this dog that doesn't seem to want to live with me. I love spending time with my friends and family. I like riding my bike, glamping with my friends and traveling. I love hiking, and exploring. I also love to read. (Big surprise, right?) There is nothing so great as the feeling of the touch or the smell of a book. I love reading myself, where I can use my imagination. However, in the essence of time, I mostly use audible and listen to books on tape. I'm not sure how I ever found the time to actually sit and read a full book for enjoyment.
