Certified Tutor

I am a certified social studies teacher with ten years of experience in the classroom. I have taught a wide range of subjects, from psychology, various histories, to humanities. I have experience working with students from 7th to 12th grade. I earned my bachelor's of science degree in business management from Hampton University in 2005. I hope to start graduate studies in social science research in the near future.

My career in teaching has been fueled in the belief that education is a human right. Education is essential to human development and the improvement of an individual's quality of life.

I am able to tutor in all subjects involving social studies. I also have two years' experience teaching International Baccalaureate in Individuals and Societies. I am well versed in I.B. paper 1-3 examinations and the skills necessary for student success. My former students have been very successful passing their exams to earn their I.B. diploma.

I believe that teaching is a cooperative. Both teachers and students alike should be proactive in the learning process. As an instructor, this means finding ways to make the lessons personal to students, giving them as many options as possible, and using projects that center on content and skills. The skills I aim to help students improve or maintain would be in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and exposure to a wide range of credible academic sources. I believe in conversation and storytelling to keep students engaged and give them ownership of respective lessons.
