I am thrilled at the opportunity to inspire young minds and foster a love for science! With a Bachelor's in Biology from Elizabeth City State University, I have over 25 years of teaching experience, including middle school science and high school courses such as AP Environmental Science and Biology. My teaching philosophy centers on individualizing instruction to meet diverse learning needs, drawing on real-life applications to make scientific concepts relatable and engaging. As a Gifted Education Facilitator, I am passionate about nurturing students' curiosity and helping them discover interests they didn't know they had. I take pride in witnessing my students achieve their goals, such as our recent success at state competitions. Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring the natural world around me, which enhances my enthusiasm for science and allows me to bring that excitement into the classroom. I love projects of all sorts! I garden and refinish furniture. Recently, I’ve been baking sourdough breads of all sorts. I live in the woods and love to take walks on trails with my 3 dogs and go fishing in our pond. I have 3 grandchildren and love to go watch them play various sports and perform in musicals.
