Certified Tutor
I am currently enrolled in Studio Arts at Concordia University and will be graduating next year. I also have my DEC in Sciences from Heritage CEGEP. I'm passionate about helping students, specifically in the field of art, because I believe it is a transferable skill that leads people to be more creative problem-solvers and have a wider perspective on life. It's important to me that people indulge their creative sides, which is often sidelined in curricula. That is why I love teaching drawing and painting as well as other miscellaneous mediums/art, trying other mediums often cures art block and fuels a change of pace. I've worked with younger kids making crafts and through activities and simple terms teach them about elements of design, while with young adults, I have pushed them to more complex compositions, techniques to buff their portfolios, and overall style. My teaching style focuses on what the student wants to learn and where I see areas of improvement, whether it's creative idea development or basic art skills, or art theory/history. My philosophy is to gently push students towards the art they want to make and give them resources and references from the art world. Outside of academia, I'm interested in fostering a community of creatives of varied styles. Community art making, collaboration,n and intermigling are often not the focus of schooling.
