Certified Tutor

As a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a chemistry major on the pre-medicine track, I have discovered a love for explaining concepts to others, so much so that I have been selected by two of my professors to serve as a UTA (Undergraduate Teaching Assistant) for both biology and chemistry next year. I have had experience teaching others as a swim instructor for the past two years, and I have also mentored fellow athletes as a captain of my track and field team in high school. My teaching style caters to every student, but I like to bring in both a hands-on approach and visual learning to my sessions. I've found success with my studies by mind-mapping and visual learning, techniques that I plan to share with my students in tutoring sessions. I don't just have students memorize material, but I also have them understand the core concepts and form deep connections. During the summer, I work as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) at a local ambulance company and train for my sport. I run cross country and track at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Division I athlete, who also manages a rigorous pre-med course load, I have found success in time management--a skill I would be happy to share with my students as well.
