Autumn: Apple Valley tutor

Certified Tutor

I'm passionate about teaching and tutoring Science and Mathematics. I hold a Master of Arts in Secondary Science Education from Western Governors University and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Utah State University. My background includes extensive experience working with teenagers facing challenges such as mental health issues, learning disabilities, and unmet physical or emotional needs. I gained much of this experience while tutoring Math and Science full-time at Newport Healthcare, a residential treatment center for adolescents requiring comprehensive mental and emotional support.

Following my time at Newport, I went on to teach 8th Grade Science, Biology, Astronomy, STEAM, and Algebra 2 in public school over the course of several years. Among all the subjects I've taught, my favorites are Chemistry and Life Sciencesespecially exploring fascinating creatures and the ecosystems they inhabit.

My teaching philosophy centers on individualism. I firmly believe that no two students learn the same way, so I strive to tailor my instruction to each learner's unique interests, strengths, and needs. Whether through personalized lessons or connecting material to a student's passion, I ensure that learning is both engaging and meaningful. The most rewarding part of teaching, for me, is witnessing that "aha" moment when a student overcomes a challengeoften discovering a new interest or talent in the process.

When I'm not reading or walking my cat (yes, I said cat), you'll likely find me planning my next adventure or tending to my garden.
