Hello! I'm Ekem (A-kum) and I'm passionate about supporting students in their learning - especially when it comes to reading, writing, and building strong language skills. I've had the wonderful chance to work in language classrooms with both elementary and high school students through community placements, remote teaching and ESL/ELD classrooms. These various experiences have shown me just how rewarding it is to guide learners at different stages in their academic journeys.
I believe learning doesn't have to feel like a chore, and I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable, confident and capable. Whether we're working on writing an essay, proofreading, building study habits/organization, learning how to read a short story, structure a sentence or simply earn words and their meanings, I'm here to support and celebrate progress (big or small!). I'm patient, empathetic, and love finding ways to connect with students in ways that work for them.

In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, listening to music, watching hockey and spending time with family and friends! Staying active is important to me whether it's through sports or just getting outside for a walk and some fresh air. I've also recently taken up baking and it's been a fun way to try something new. These hobbies help me recharge and bring balance to my days, and I love sharing that same positive energy when I'm working with students.
