Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of American University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology and my Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. My master's thesis research involves understanding the mechanisms of nerve and retina regeneration after chemical pollutant exposure in zebrafish, a model organism that have the ability to regenerate their nerves. I am a nationally registered and licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of Maryland. My prior teaching experience includes instruction of the laboratory component of General Biology and the laboratory component of Vertebrate Physiology at American University. I specialize in high school and college biology level instruction as well as EMT training instruction. My teaching philosophy is centered around context. Context is vital in making sense and establishing connections in fields like biology that can be tedious and overwhelming at times, particularly in the college setting. Clarifying context and establishing a solid background is the key in understanding more complex topics of biology and beyond. Outside of academia and my work as an EMT, I love spending time with friends, outdoors, and cooking.
