I'm a student attending law school at Queen's University. I completed my undergraduate degree, majoring in politics and philosophy, graduating with a Dean's Honours, a Degree with Distinction and several merit-based scholarships. My academic background has equipped me with a strong foundation in critical thinking, argumentation, and clear communication skills, which I hope to bring into every tutoring session.
I have had several experiences helping students across a range of age groups. For instance, I have worked as an English tutor for recent immigrants and refugees, primarily teaching younger children. Here, I realized the importance of building knowledge through clear explanation, patience and adapting my approaches to each student's pace. I've also worked as a mentor for first-year students at Queen's University, helping them develop healthy, effective academic habits to succeed in university. This experience sharpened my ability to recognize the key differences between high school and university-level writing and reading, allowing me to better identify the specific areas students need to strengthen in order to improve their writing and meet higher academic expectations.
Whether you are studying for the LSAT, writing a personal statement or need help writing an exceptional paper for your high school final, I am committed to building tailored success plans to not just improve your grades, but build critical skills and raise independent learning habits to help you become a successful student.
Outside of academics, I enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton, which helps me stay active and build teamwork skills that carry over into my cooperative teaching style. I'm also an avid reader, especially of philosophy and political theory, as I find that exploring complex ideas sharpens my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly. In quieter moments, I like to unwind by playing the piano or the guitar, which gives me space to reflect and recharge. These hobbies keep me grounded, sharp and energized, which I hope to bring into every tutoring session.
