Hi everyone! My name is Emily, and I am a native New Orleanian. I am graduate of Louisiana State University, from which I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on clinical psychological work and a minor in French studies. Throughout my time at LSU, I assisted in a school psychology research lab and in a clinical research lab's efforts in LSU's Psychological Services Center. While I was in school, I also facilitated a local aftercare program and helped students complete primarily English and math homework. After graduation, I first worked with a local nonprofit that ran school programs for elementary students to receive free mentoring, homework help, and workshops on topics like engineering and local farming; on saturdays, I attended city-wide educational trainings on literacy promotion and engagement in after school activites. I would also participate in state-wide educational excersions and mentor children on these trips. I now work as an academic coordinator in the office of LSU's Psychology Department, where I lead in departmental communications, media productions, and academic advising.
I completed all of my collegiate English coursework in high school, and I am very comfortable navigating writing assignments; I have performed peer reviews and edited assignments for coursework ranging from elementrary to graduate school levels. I am passionate about a number of subjects outside of writing/literature, including history, French, chemistry, and psychology. I am also able to help students in the following AP classes, which I received 5's in: US History, American Government, Literature, Language and Composition, and Psychology.
I am passionate about learning for the sake of learning and patient as an educator. I want to instill prospective students with the confidence and the toolset to comprehend coursework to the best of their ability. Every student has a unique baseline and capacity to learn, and it is my hope that I can tailor supplemental learning opportunities to the needs of the individual.
Outside of work, I thoroughly enjoy reading, creative writing, yoga, tennis / pingpong, films and tv shows, biking, hiking, collaging, digital design, and caring for my pets.
I welcome prospective students' questions and am excited to learn more about you!
