I have been an educator for over 28 years, having earned my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University,, where I developed a deep appreciation for the intersection of human behavior and learning. During my time in university, I worked closely with peers and younger students, which sparked my passion for tutoring and helping others navigate academic challenges. I then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from St Mary's University, graduating with honors. I am currently working on a second Master's Degree from WGU in Instructional Design and Ed Tech.
I specialize in tutoring subjects like English, Math, and Writing, but I've also worked with students in areas such as Reading, Science and SEL. My favorite subjects to tutor are Reading and MAth because I love exploring how language shapes human thought and how mathematical principles can be applied to everyday life. I find it rewarding to help students not just understand a concept, but to see them connect it to their own experiences and perspectives.
My tutoring style is centered around skill acquisition and active engagement. I believe in meeting students where they are, using a personalized approach to address their specific needs, while encouraging critical thinking. I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because those moments often lead to the greatest growth.
Outside of academics, I have a deep interest in animals and reading, hobbies that allow me to explore the world through different lenses. I often incorporate these passions into my tutoring by using storytelling or visual aids to explain concepts, making learning feel more interactive and connected to real-world experiences.
I hope my approach to tutoring is not only educational but also inspiring. My goal is to empower students, help them grow in confidence, and nurture their love for learning. I believe that education is a journey, and I strive to make it an enjoyable one for each student I work with.
