Certified Tutor
I am passionate about helping students because the progress that I can see each student make over time is so rewarding to me. I have worked with students in an academic setting since I was in high school, and I am now a third year student in university. I have tutored many age groups, from elementary and middle school students to high school students. I am currently a third year student studying psychology, cognitive studies, and Spanish at Tulane University of Louisiana. I tutor math primarily, ranging from elementary school level math to geometry. This includes Algebra as well. I can also tutor elementary school level, middle school level, and high school level reading and writing, comprehension, and Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is math because I find it fun. I think the step by step nature of the subject appeals to me most. My teaching philosophy is constructivism, emphasizing the learner's role in actively building their understanding. I use this approach to encourage inquiry, problem solving, and collaborative learning with my students to allow them to construct their own knowledge. My tutoring style aligns with my teaching philosophy. Outside of academia, I love to cook, paint, drink coffee, sing, and bing watch tv shows (right now I am watching "the Big Bang Theory").
