Alexandra: Maryland tutor
Certified Tutor
I am deeply passionate about helping students build confidence in themselves and their abilities, whether they're tackling a new subject, preparing for a test, or working through a tough concept. With a strong foundation in psychology and experience working with children and adolescents across a variety of learning settings, I enjoy creating individualized support for each learner.
I recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tulane University in May, where I also minored in Strategy, Leadership, and Analytics. I will be pursuing a Master of Social Work at NYU's Silver School of Social Work beginning this fall. Throughout my academic journey, I've worked as a research assistant in multiple psychology labs, volunteered as a counselor for Crisis Text Line, and facilitated after-school programs. I've also served as a tutor and mentor for students in elementary through high school settings, supporting both academic skills and personal development.
The subjects I enjoy tutoring most include psychology, middle school math, English, reading comprehension, and writing. I also love helping students improve their organizational and study skills. My tutoring style is supportive, patient, and adaptable. I focus on meeting students where they are, understanding how they learn best, and helping them reach their goals in a way that feels both manageable and encouraging.
Outside of academics, I coach alpine ski racing and enjoy staying active, being outdoors, and staying involved in youth mentorship and outreach. These experiences have strengthened my ability to motivate and connect with students from all backgrounds and learning styles.
