As a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan and a Graduate Student Instructor for a hands-on biomedical engineering design course, I have cultivated a deep passion for teaching and mentoring students. My academic journey has provided me with a solid foundation in bioengineering principles, biostatistics, and microbiology, allowing me to effectively support students in mastering complex concepts in these fields.
Throughout my time as a Graduate Student Instructor, I have guided third-year undergraduates in solving real-world biomedical problems using tools such as SolidWorks, COMSOL, and MATLAB. I also completed my Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. During my bachelor's I was an instructional aide for an introductory biomechanics class, focusing on the combination of physics and calculus to solve real-world biomechanics problems. This experience has not only honed my ability to break down intricate scientific topics but has also deepened my appreciation for interactive, experiential learning. I believe that the best learning occurs when students actively engage with the material, apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios, and feel confident asking questions in a supportive environment.
I tutor a range of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and various Engineering courses. I find great fulfillment in helping students grasp difficult concepts that are crucial for scientific research, as well as understanding interactions that drive both health and disease.
My teaching philosophy centers around clarity, patience, and adaptability. I strive to meet students where they are, demystifying challenging topics by building step-by-step understanding and encouraging critical thinking. Whether it's designing a laboratory experiment or analyzing statistical data, I work alongside my students to foster both competence and confidence in their abilities.
Outside of academia, I enjoy playing soccer, doing pilates, cooking, and engaging in outdoor activities. These interests help me maintain balance and bring a fresh perspective to my teaching approach.
I am excited to bring my expertise and enthusiasm for learning to Varsity Tutors, where I hope to inspire students to not only achieve their academic goals but to also cultivate a lasting appreciation for the subjects they study.
