Wendy Kay: Bethlehem tutor
Certified Tutor
I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others succeed. I tutored students in elementary school and was a peer tutor in college, leading me to pursue a teaching license. I am a people person, so helping others is something I value. I enjoy watching someone figure something out or learn something new.
I received a bachelors degree in English Literature and Art from the University of Redlands, then my ELA licensure from Hamline University. I received my masters in Arts in Education from the University of Minnesota, where I am a doctoral candidate.
I am a student-centered educator. I feel it is important to meet students where they are and provide the scaffolding they need to master a skill. I like to ask my students to challenge themselves, to experiment, and take risks. I ask them not to be afraid of the blank paper in front of them but see it as an opportunity.
My favorite subjects to tutor are English (writing and literature), Art and Art History, and education. I currently teach Art History and Art Education at the University of Wisconsin River Falls.
When I am not teaching, I love to read, write, create art, garden, and hike. I also love to travel and also try new restaurants with my friends and family.
