Certified Tutor

My name is Joshua Silverman, and I am a history tutor with a strong academic background and a lifelong passion for the subject. I earned my degree in History from Stony Brook University, where I specialized in U.S. history. During my time there, I pursued a rigorous and diverse course load, completing more credits than required and gaining a well-rounded understanding of both U.S. and world history.
While my primary area of focus is U.S. history, I also tutor in world history. I will be attending law school in the fall, where I look forward to further applying my analytical and historical skills in a legal context.
My tutoring philosophy is centered on individualized learning. I begin by understanding how each student best processes and engages with historical material, then tailor my approach accordinglystarting at a comfortable pace and building up as confidence and comprehension grow. My goal is to make history accessible, engaging, and relevant for every student I work with. It's important to understand that everyone learns differently, therefore the best way for a person to absorb information will be personalized.
