Daphne: Arlington tutor
Certified Tutor
As a passionate and patient tutor, I believe every student has the ability to succeed with the right guidance and support. I'm currently a junior at The George Washington University, majoring in Psychological and Brain Sciences in the Honors Program. As a first-generation Latina college student, I know firsthand the importance of mentorship, and I strive to be that source of encouragement and clarity for others.
I specialize in tutoring elementary and middle school students in English Language Arts, Science, and Spanish, and I'm also a Teach For America fellow tutoring 5th graders in reading comprehension. I tailor each session to fit the student's unique learning style and needs, and I prioritize building confidence alongside academic growth.
With experience in both one-on-one tutoring and classroom settings, I've learned how to break down complex topics into relatable, manageable steps. Whether we're tackling reading fluency, decoding scientific concepts, or strengthening study habits, I aim to make learning both effective and empowering.

Outside of academics and tutoring, I love spending time with kids, whether it's through babysitting, volunteering in classrooms, or running fun educational activities. I’m passionate about making a difference in my community and have been deeply involved with Operation Smile, an international medical nonprofit, for over 5 years. One of my biggest passions is theatre—whether I'm performing on stage or supporting a production behind the scenes, I love the creativity, teamwork, and storytelling that theatre brings to life. I’m also a big New York Yankees fan and love catching games whenever I can. In my downtime, I enjoy reading—especially books about psychology and human development—exploring art museums, and traveling to learn about different cultures. When I’m not studying or helping others learn, you can usually find me running, trying out new coffee shops, or planning my next service trip abroad.
