I am currently a first grade teacher in North Carolina. I also taught second grade 1 year and kindergarten for 6 years. I am fluent in English and Spanish. I teach phonics, ELA, writing and math. I have a Master's in the Art of Teaching Elementary Education. I love teaching. Some of my most favorite parts of teaching are watching students learn and witnessing those moments when they feel so proud of how much they have grown academically and as a scholar. I love to spark academic interest in students by helping them feel confident in themselves and support them by helping them maintain a growth mindset. I have tutored students after school in order to give them one on one instruction in areas that they need more support in for both reading and math. I have also tutored small groups. Although I teach various subjects, I am most passionate about teaching phonics and phonemic awareness since it's the critical foundation to help students become strong readers. I also enjoying teaching math and helping students fully understand the why behind solving math problems and how it connects to real world math situations. In my spare time I enjoy being with my daughters, watching sports, exercising and hiking.
