I'm currently finishing up my Master's degree in Transatlantic Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I also completed my undergraduate studies. As an undergrad, I double majored in Contemporary European Studies and Peace, War, and Defense, with a minor in Arabic. Throughout my academic journey, I've discovered a deep passion for both teaching and learning especially when it comes to helping others grow their knowledge and confidence!
For the past few years, I've worked as a tutor alongside my studies, focusing on writing and the social sciences. I've primarily worked with middle school, high school, and college students, especially on strengthening their writing skills. I also bring subject-matter expertise in history, political science, and international relations, and I enjoy creating interactive and engaging lessons in these areas.
I love helping students become excited about the material, especially when it's something they may have found intimidating or confusing at first. Writing is one of my favorite things to tutorI believe it's a powerful skill that everyone can improve with practice, and I find joy in helping students learn to express themselves effectively. I also love diving into history and current events in a way that is digestable for students at any level.
My tutoring style is all about adaptability and engagement. I like to begin sessions by asking students what they want to get out of our time together, then tailor the lesson accordingly. I make an effort to keep sessions interactive particularly in subjects like history or political science by asking lots of questions and encouraging discussion instead of just delivering information.
