Certified Tutor
Hello! I'm excited to work with students as a tutor and assist in achieving their academic goals. I earned my bachelor's in biology from Queens College - CUNY, where I developed a strong foundation in mathematics, programming, statistical thinking, philosophy, psychology, and basic sciences including biology and chemistry. Since then I've worked as a data engineer, data scientist, and software developer on big and small data projects. As a technologist, learning never ends! However, my real passion is education technology and the application of it to accelerate learning.
My experience working with students spans 5 years and includes tutoring college and high school students in biology, as well as middle school students in regents geometry, algebra, and 6th through 8th grade math. I've worked with learners of many ages and skill levels, helping them overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. Whether it's breaking down complex concepts or preparing for exams, I tailor my approach to meet each student's unique needs.
I specialize in tutoring algebra I, II, geometry, 8th grade math, precalculus, living environment/biology, philosophy/theory of mind, psychology, global history/social studies, chemistry, and test prep (SAT/ACT). My teaching philosophy centers on patience, clarity, and encouragement. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance. I believe education is about building cognitive skills and focus on fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, often using real-world examples to make learning relatable and engaging. My tutoring style is collaborative; I listen to my students, adapt to their learning preferences (in an actual data-driven manner) and celebrate their progress along the way.
Outside of education, I enjoy reading and journaling ideas after a long hike with a view, cognitive computational neuroscience (I'm applying for a PhD focusing on learning in the brain), chess, science meetups and lectures, classical performances, exercising in the outdoors and philosophical discussions. These interests keep me curious and energized, and I love connecting with students over shared passions. Whether you're a fellow science and data enthusiast or just looking for a dedicated tutor, I'm here to help you succeed and make learning enjoyable. Let's work together to unlock your potential!
