Toni: Kenosha tutor
Certified Tutor
I am the Mother of an adult daughter with Autism. This gives me a unique perspective into the needs of children with ASD, not only as a Mother, but also as an educator. As a result, I am very passionate about students with special needs and supporting their learning.
I am registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in Canada and I am qualified to teach Junior Kindergarten to grade ten. I have approximately ten years of experience teaching students in a variety of different programs and classrooms and an additional two years working with preschool aged children assessing Early Childhood Development and school readiness. I love language and literacy and that is the subject I am most passionate about teaching. My favourite grades to teach are preschool to grade four in any subject area.
It is my personal belief that all children learn best in a child centered environment in which they are active participants in their own learning. I believe it is impossible for a teacher to be effective if respect is not present and that respect starts with the teacher and moves out from there. As an educator, I see myself as the facilitator of student learning who guides students to ask and answer meaningful questions using higher order thinking. I always make it a point to get to know my student's strengths and interests so I can personalize lessons, provide my students with opportunities for success, and so I can elicit enthusiasm about learning.

Outside of the classroom, my most important role is that of a Mother of an adult child with Autism. I consider spending time with her, parenting her and watching her grow and develop to be my life’s greatest gift. I love to read, enjoy quilting and crafting, and doing pretty much anything creative. I love animals and have two Golden Retrievers named Molly and Gomez.
