I served as a high school teacher for 27 years and still work as a part time adjunct lecturer at night at a local community college, having taught English consistently. I have a Masters in Library Science from the University at Albany, SUNY, and an additional Masters in English with a concentration in American Literature from Queens College, CUNY. I am 6 credits shy of a third Masters in Education as I did not do the student teaching, for I was hired! I settled for an Advanced Certificate from Queens College in Education. I love the challenge of working with students, as I struggled with classes as a youth, rarely finding a teacher who could tap into my interests as a conduit to the class materials; consequently, this has informed my pedagogy, as I try to adapt curriculum to my students' interests. I believe with time, effort, and a passionate educator who connects with a child that every child can learn.

I write music and play guitar and piano. I am a pop culture aficionado, fascinated by film, television, comic books/graphic novels, and books. I read around 200 novels a year! I love travel and have been to at least a dozen countries, and I enjoy amateur photography, especially capturing images from the places I visit. Last but not least, I am a nerd who loves Dungeons and Dragon (2e) and have played on and off as a player and also as a dungeon master for over 40 years.
