Growing up, I did not enjoy reading. I despised it and wanted nothing to do with it. Then, I began reading about my hobbies and discovered that I could learn how to do anything. I enjoyed using words to express myself. I was first acknowledged for my writing abilities in high school after placing third place in a regional poetry competition. In addition, it helped me win two academic scholarships, which allowed me to enroll in college.
Students thrive when supported. Support and encouragement are two of my strong points. It brings me joy to see students achieve something they thought was impossible. As a tutor, I support reshaping traditional curriculum aspects to be more student-centered, interest focused, and to use meaningful assessments that monitor student progress. I believe in the educational philosophies where students learn through prior knowledge and communicating, as well as through real-life examples. I create a learning environment that encourages student participation. My sessions foster acceptance and a safe place where it's fine to make mistakes and try again. That's what learning is all about. And while we're at it, let's have some fun!
My qualifications include teaching elementary school learners to read, write, and spell.I alsoassist middle school students in English Language Arts. These are my favorite subjects because I'm sure that learning how to read, comprehend and communicate can change one's life. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Winston-Salem State University. I'm pursuing my license through the North Carolina Teachers of Tomorrow, an alternative licensure program.
As they develop their identities and resilience, I provide my students with the opportunity to improve their English language proficiency. My classroom readiness training and professional skills will be a valuable asset. I'm excited to support you as you pursue your academic goals!

I enjoy dancing, specifically Zumba. It's something about the rhythm that I love! I also like curling up with a good book and spending time with my family. I also like to travel. Currently my favorite place is the beach.
