As a reading teacher for 24 years, I am passionate about sharing my love of reading with scholars and helping them find reading identiies. I am really passionate about helping scholars become life long readers while ensuring they can manuever the different genre structures to be successful in regards to comprehension of what they read.

I believe on focusing on the scholars needs not the curriculum. I believe the use of books and poetry is a great way to not only teach skills and strategies, while promoting reading proficiency. I believe that Data driven instruction is how to help scholar make gains in Reading.

I have a masters degree in Elementary Education 1-6. I moved from Arkansas where I taught second grade for 5 years and 4th for 2, to Texas where I am certified in grades 4-8 and have an ESL certification. I have taught second, fourth, and sixth.

I currently serve as one of the Dyslexia Interventionist in my district. I have had experience with MTA and HD Word(Really Great Reading ), where i focus on the foundational reading skills: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, vocabulary, fluency and reading comprehension daily.

Most of my career I have taught Reading and Writing. My love and passion lies with all things Reading.

I have written curriculum for our after school tutoring program where I served as one of the teachers. I have worked in State Testing grades so engaging in test prepping units is another aspect of helping scholars be successful.
My ultimate goal is to build life long strategic readers that can manuever what ever text put in front of them.

I have worked in TItle 1 schools my entire career.

I love to Teach Reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and fluency.
