Melanie: Lower East Side tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! My name is Mel, and I am a dedicated and passionate tutor with three degrees from UCLA: a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Master of Public Health, and a Master of Legal Studies in Health Law and Policy. With years of experience teaching biology at UCLA and tutoring students from 9th grade through college senior level, I've worked with a variety of learners on topics ranging from foundational biology to advanced life sciences concepts.
In addition to academic tutoring, I've guided students through the college admissions process, offering tailored support for crafting compelling essays that reflect their unique voices. My goal as a tutor is to provide you with engaging, relatable ways to connect with the material, helping deepen your understanding and build confidence in your abilities.
Whether biology excites you or feels like a challenge, I believe there's always a way to make learning enjoyable and rewarding. I understand that everyone learns differently, with unique grasps, fears, and levels of engagement, so I approach every session with intentionality and flexibility to meet your individual needs.
I look forward to partnering with you on your academic journey and helping you reach your goals! Let's make learning not just effective, but enjoyable too.

When I’m not tutoring, you can usually find me in the kitchen trying out new recipes, rewatching Friends for the hundredth time, or hunting for the perfect pair of shoes. I love relaxing with a great movie, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and spending quality time with my two dogs, who always keep life interesting!
