I was a university professor of English for 25 years, teaching composition, literature, and creative writing to students from around the world. My passion is helping students continue to develop their writing skills along with decreasing any writing anxiety they have and increasing their enjoyment of writing. I enjoy helping students discover their own insight into what they read and realize how it relates to their own lives. I see myself as a guide and learning facilitator, helping students discover their potential and encouraging them as they do that, sharing my knowledge with them as we go along.
I have had a long and rewarding journey with education. I earned a BA in English from Luther College, an MA in English with Creative Emphasis from Iowa State University, and a PhD in English with Creative Emphasis from Bowling Green State University.

In addition to teaching, I enjoy reading fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, and I especially like to write poems. I also enjoy going for long walks and bike rides, traveling, cooking, and watching movies. Music is a passion of mine. I love to create playlists with my favorite songs and listen to music every day. I played violin for seventeen years but have now not played it for longer than that. Lately, I have been thinking of picking it up again.
