Hi! My name is Allie. I live with my husband, two dogs and a cat and love to incorporate stories about all of them into lessons. For four years I worked as a special education teacher with students who have vision loss, spanning kindergarten to 21 years old, honor roll graduates to students working to establish communication methods. After that I pivoted to working with seniors who have vision loss, teaching them about everything from how to cook blind to how to use a smartphone. I have two teaching degrees from Columbia University, an additional teaching certification from Portland State University, and I got my BA in creative writing from Linfield University. I love learning and teaching and look forward to meeting all my new students.

I love spending time with my animals! Taking them to the beach is the highlight of any week. Baking, cooking, and fixing up little projects around the house are my current passion, but I often get distracted by starting new art projects. I'm also a sucker for fun facts about animals and language :)
